The Hellenic Premier side play their first competitive home game of the new season when they host a Malmesbury side coming into the fixture on the back of a 13-0 win on the opening weekend of the season.
Longlevens, who participate in the FA Cup for just the fourth time, will be looking to maintain a 100% record in the Extra Preliminary Round after a 1-0 win at Holmer Green last season.
Going into the tie, Longlevens have had a mixed start – with a great 3-0 win away at Easington Sports last Saturday, before a 4-1 defeat at an impressive Westfields side on Tuesday night. And Martin believes the defeat will benefit his side going into Saturday’s game.
“Last Tuesday was always going to be a tough game,” Martin said. “We gave them a good game for 60 minutes but all over the pitch Westfields have match winners and it’s going to take some serious work to stop them winning the league title, even though we are only two games in they really are superb.
But that’s the good thing about the Hellenic League, games come thick and fast so when you lose a game you can’t dwell on it too long as you always have a game with 3-4 days.
We know that Malmesbury are up there as favourites to win Hellenic Division One West, so we know it’s not going to be an easy game,
Last season our home record wasn’t great so we will be looking to improve on that this season for sure. Our target is to make Longlevens away one of the toughest trips our opponents will face over a season, we have a reputation as a tricky team at times so we can build on that,” Martin added.
Martin has confirmed that going into Saturday’s cup tie, Longlevens will welcome back Tommy Callinan and Tom Powell-Davis into the matchday squad, whilst Ben Williams is away. Martin also confirmed that Logan Roach has returned to the club and will be in the squad for the FA Cup tie.
